Yaung Chi Thit wishes our friends, partners, and donors a peaceful and joyful day. Today is the day Yaung Chi Thit celebrates the 10 year anniversary of our journey serving the women of Myanmar. Yaung Chi Thit has worked together with our friends and partners from different fields during the last 10 years. Yaung Chi Thit started its journey as an organization in the year 2009 in Myebon Township, Rakhine State by conducting a leadership training session of 20 young men and women from 10 villages under the leadership of Daw Khin Hla. Participants of that training came to be able to find the opportunities for development of their respective communities while some of them now are in leadership positions taking great responsibilities in Yaung Chi Thit. International Women’s Day 2019

Yaung Chi Thit conducted an International Women’s Day event at Grand Amara Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on March 11, 2019 with members of parliament, government personnel, honorable guests, and She Leads Alumnae. In the celebration, Dr. Tin Tin Win, Chairwomen of Amyothar Hluttaw’s Women and Children Rights Committee, U Khin Maung Oo, Director General of Union Election Commission, U Aung Kyaw Moe, Deputy Director General of Ministry for Social Welfare Relief and Resettlement, Paul Guerin, Country Director of IFES Myanmar gave opening remarks respectively. Daw Khin Hla, Director of Yaung Chi Thit, also presented the journey of She Leads program and the alumnae shared their experiences, presented performances, songs, and plays. State Level International Women’s Day event conducted in Rakhine State

In collaboration with local CSOs, international organizations and UN agencies, the Department of Social Welfare conducted the International Women Day on March 8 at Oo Ohtama Hall, Sittwe Township, Rakhine State on 8 March, 2019. Yaung Chi Thit also participated in the event actively and displayed the photos of its projects’ activities and products of GLP alumnae. Rakhine State Chief Minister and respective government officials and most attendees came to visit the YCT booth and asked questions. The Fourth Asia Electoral Stakeholders Forum conducted in Colombo, Sri Lanka

The Election Commission of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, in partnership with the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL), invited Yaung Chi Thit to participate in the 4th Asian Electoral Stakeholder Forum (AESF IV), which was held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 27 to 28 August 2018. 

The forum is the most celebrated gathering between Election Management Bodies (EMBs) and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Asia. AESF is a continuing engagement among stakeholders to discuss issues that affect and characterize the conduct of elections in contemporary Asia. There have been three successful gatherings since it was first launched in 2012: AESF-1 in Bangkok, Thailand (2012), AESF-2 in Dili, Timor-Leste (2015), and AESF-3 in Bali, Indonesia (2016). International Women’s Day event in Chin state

Yaung Chi Thit and the Department of Social Welfare (DSW-Tedim) collaborated and organized the International Women’s Day event in Tedim Township, in Chin State on 8 March 2018. In the event, Daw Neik Kame Lyan (Head of Office, Chin State, DSW) gave an opening speech to the participants and then a panel discussion was held, led by alumnae sharing their experiences. The third stakeholder conference on Labor Laws Reform held in Nay Pyi Taw

The third stakeholder conference on Labor Laws reform was held on January 17 and 18, 2018 at Kempinski Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw. The opening speech of the conference was delivered by U Thein Swe, Union Minister for the Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population. Then, U Myo Aung, Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Labor, Immigration and Population explained the procedures for 2018-2019 fiscal year labor market reforms and the related road map. The attendees of the conference shared and discussed their views on how to improve the labor market and labor laws. Technical Working Groups (TWGs) meetings conducted in Nay Pyi Taw

The Technical Working Groups (TWGs) of National Strategic Plan for the Advancement of Women (NSPAW) (2013-2022) held a meeting at Mingalar Thiri Hotel, Nay Pyi Taw on January 17, 2018. The meeting was held in accordance with 9 agendas including advice from high level conference for sustainable goals from 2017[L1] .  The attendees discussed the one-year work plan of NSPAW TWG. Daw Khin Hla, the director of Yaung Chi Thit, also attended the meeting and discussed the effective implementation of NSPAW.

Launching ceremony of policy paper on Gender Policy towards Gender Equality


The launching ceremony of the gender policy paper towards gender equality was held at Green Hill Hotel, Yangon on January 15, 2018. Salween Public Policy Study Group and Women’s League of Burma jointly prepared the policy paper for the strategies to promote gender equality. The meeting was organized in the form of group discussions on the policy papers led by leaders, discussion of the facts and agenda included in the papers, and questions from the participants. Daw Khin Hla, the director of Yaung Chi Thit, joined and contributed to the discussion.

16 Days Activism event conducted in Kyaukphyu Township, Rakhine State

16 Days of Activism is a worldwide campaign which is held annually from 25th November to 10 December, aiming to protect women, prevent women from being violated, and to reduce violence against women.
